The Curtain of Prayer

Why does it feel like we hide behind the curtain of prayer sometimes? Sometimes we ask for prayer over and over with no movement on our part. Now, God may say, "Stand still," or he may say, "Make this move." I guess the bottom line in prayer is to listen for His voice. He speaks in numerous ways. He speaks through the church, His word, the Holy Spirit, prayer, and circumstances. I am sure there are other ways, but these have been proven true.

What is God trying to say to you today? What has He been trying to say for a long time now? How many times have you asked for prayer regarding a situation, etc. without adhering to what God has already told you? It sometimes feels safer just to keep asking for prayer without moving towards what we have already heard. I know. I understand. I've been there. Nevertheless, God does not want us to stay stuck. He wants us to know His will more than we do. He will go out of His way to make His will clear. Obviously, sometimes it's easier to hear than others, but it is still possible.

So with this thing called prayer, what are we doing with it? We use curtains to conceal, to hide something from the sight of others. I pray for myself and for you that we don't use prayer in this way. May we stay honest with ourselves, with a willingness to obey God. I guess we either believe He knows what He is doing, or not!

Yes! We need prayer, but may we keep the curtain thin enough to hear God and obey Him. May we not thicken the curtain, hiding behind it in order to do our own wills. May the light of the Son shine brightly into our hearts and lives, for our good, the good of others, and His glory!
